I always enjoy the food at Smithfield Gourmet Cafe. Friendly staff. Flavorful food. Breakfast is the best but lunch is pretty amazing as well. If you are looking for great food and friendly atmosphere you should stop in.
We had an amazing experience on Valentine's Day. My husband and I decided to go to breakfast and are very glad we did. Kennedy seated and served us. We ordered chocolate cake to start and she brought it right out. Breakfast was very yummy. I had the quiche special, my husband had a sausage biscuit both of which were fresh and tasty. We lingered as there wasn't a line, and never felt rushed or like we were taking too long.
Y’all, Burrito says this is like stepping into a small town from any Hallmark movie. Think hometown, born country, southern hospitality, and calories don’t count here. If I hadn’t come with mine, you might just find ya husband, or the small town love of your life. Dumpling says small town feels and moves at a small town pace, but worth the wait and time. The hush puppies were good, but the herbed butter was the star of that show. We split a club sandwich on tomato basil bread and onion rings for the side; we split this and did not leave hungry. Solid onion rings. We left with a loaf of that tomato basil bread, cookies, a cupcake, and other bake goods. We also got a slice of their chocolate cake cheesecake, slap yo momma, this is everything Burrito wants in a cheesecake - the flavor, texture, consistency, down to the graham cracker crust, I can’t even tell you the last time I had cheese cake so authentically what I was looking for and ate the crust. We would definitely return, not in a hurry 😉
Very cute place, nestled amongst other shopping retailers. The inside was quaint and cute. The food was hot and fresh, the desserts were good although I thought I was getting cheesecake or that was what I was told as it was placed on the table, I looked at it and I said “This is carrot cake”. I don’t know how the young lady didn’t know when she cut it or place it on the plate that it was carrot cake. I ate it anyway & it was good. Definitely worth the 45 min drive from Virginia Beach.
Quaint, rustic, small town feel that I love. The taste of a 5 star bakery. The staff was very friendly & happy to help. We didn't have a full meal, just a dessert. It was great after spending some time walking the downtown district. We had sandwiches & they were amazing & very filling. You have to try the tomato basil bread. It made my Bakery Club!
The food was delicious. I ordered the club sandwich. It was huge!! My husband got a piece of chocolate meringue pie. Rich and decadent. We were passing through, but it was definitely a place that I would stop at again.
I had a fantastic experience at Smithfield Gourmet Bakery. The service was excellent, our servers were friendly, attentive, and really made the visit enjoyable. I tried the Main Street Monte Cristo Sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious, definitely a standout. The carrot cake was incredible! I was full from lunch so I grabbed a piece to go. The atmosphere had a very cool, welcoming vibe that made it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
I had the Reuben and it was my first time trying one and ooohhh my gosh it was so good 😭. The bread was absolutely amazing and I had my sandwich with honey mustard. The perfect touch. I had hand cut fries which were so good and I had a cup of Brunswick soup. Everything was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. Everyone was beyond happy with their meal!
Picked up takeout on our way through town and now we are going to need to make time to eat in when we are back. Fantastic sandwiches, but the mac and cheese unexpectedly stole the show. Highly recommend!
Absolutely love this little spot. Stopped in for later lunch. Pleasantly surprised at decent prices on everything. The sausage and biscuits are so delicious. Best ive ever had. The prices on fresh baked goods were beyond reasonable and great quality and delicious! This will be a regular stop for us "newbie" locals. Great job!
